On the Edge of the Black Sea

On the Edge of the Black Sea

The graphic novel On the Edge of the Black Sea consists of five short stories. Each of the stories is based on Georgian mythology, and relates to cultural heroes on which I grew up: artists, apostles, martyrs, rulers and warriors. The book opens with the crucifixion of Jesus, and ends centuries later with the legend of the early days of the city of Tbilisi. In between, a mysterious, ancient and dark world unfolds.

The book was produced with the support of the Israel Lottery Council for Culture & Arts and won the Israel Museum Ben-Yitzhak Award for the Illustration of a children’s book 2018.
