Nino Biniashvili (b.1980, Georgia) lives and works in Toronto. In her work, Biniashvili analyzes the possibilities and problems of communication between cultures and people. She attempts to articulate the experience of living in a permanent state of otherness.


Nino Biniashvili is a visual artist, author, and educator. Between 2021 and 2025, she served as Head of the Visual Communication Department at the Faculty of Design and Architecture, Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE). She is the author of the children’s book My Window Here (Mizrahi Publishing, PJ Library), illustrated by Avia Cohen, and has published critically acclaimed works including On the Edge of the Black Sea and Caesurae: Paul Celan’s Later Work (Wallstein Publishing, Berlin).

Her work spans exhibitions, book design, editorial illustration, and video art. She has exhibited internationally at Tbilisi Open Air Museum of Ethnography, Museum Bärengasse (Zurich), Artisterium Tbilisi International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Kunstraum LLC (New York), Galerie 21 im Künstlerhaus Vorwerkstift (Hamburg), and the CJH Center for Jewish History (NY), Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, among others. Her illustrations and editorial work have appeared in Das Magazin (Switzerland), Jewish Women in Comics (Syracuse University Press), Caesurae: Paul Celan’s Later Work (Wallstein Publishing, Berlin), World Literature Today (USA), and Judisk Krönika (Sweden).

Biniashvili has received numerous grants and awards, including the Israel Museum Ben-Yitzhak Award for the Illustrated Book, the Prins Fellowship for Artists and Writers (NY, USA), RIC Ryerson Image Center, Toronto, Canada and scholarships for excellence from Konstfack University College of Art, Crafts and Design (Stockholm, Sweden).
